In 2014, I was a mom of two, expecting my third child. I didn’t know that 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. My friend—and future Gathering Hope co-founder—Carol didn’t know that 21,000 babies are stillborn in the United States each year.

We didn’t know baby loss could trigger PTSD in 60 percent of mothers, or that it’s tied to long-term health issues like heart disease, substance abuse, and even suicidality.

We didn’t know, until we were statistics ourselves.
