Gathering FAQ
Q: Who should attend a Gathering?
A: Gatherings are for survivors of miscarriage, stillbirth & early infant loss. Regardless of how long it has been since your baby passed away, whether it was yesterday or 40+ years ago, you are welcome at Gathering Hope.
Q: How do I attend a Gathering?
A: You can choose to attend our full-day Gathering in Texas, bring the Gathering experience to your local community by hosting a Host Site Gathering for loss moms in your area, attend as a guest at a Host Site close to you, or become a Sisterhood Circle Coordinator, where you will host loss moms in your home or other intimate venue. All options will operate with the same authenticity, welcoming atmosphere, and attention to detail as experienced at our Texas Gathering.
Q: What should I expect at a Gathering?
A: A Gathering is an in-person event where you’ll experience uplifting worship and powerful guest speakers in an atmosphere where you can both grieve and celebrate the life of your baby, with other mothers. The second half of the Gathering is dedicated to sharing our stories in small groups around the table. Of course, no one is ever forced to speak; however, you may feel empowered to engage in the conversation after listening to other women who are on the same path.
Our full-day conference in Texas also includes lunch, two afternoon breakout sessions, and access to curated vendors. We encourage you to explore the different options near you.
Q: Can I bring a friend?
A: Yes! Invite a fellow mom who has experienced a loss, or you’re welcome to invite any woman who supports you (sister, friend, your own mother, or mother-in-law). In order to be seated together, each guest will need to purchase tickets on the SAME ticket order. We cannot accommodate requests that are not on the same ticket order.
Q: Can I bring my husband, boyfriend, or other children? Is there childcare available?
A: Unfortunately, no. The Gathering is exclusively for mothers who have experienced miscarriage and infant loss, as well as other women in their support systems (such as sisters, friends, or their own mother). We respectfully ask that attendees do not bring husbands, boyfriends, or children. This allows us to create a safe, comfortable space where every guest who has experienced baby loss can be open and transparent without distraction. Childcare will not be provided.
Breastfeeding/Pumping Moms: While we kindly ask that babies not be brought to the Gathering, we want to support breastfeeding mothers. A private space will be available for those who need to pump during the event.
A note about volunteers: You may notice a few male or teen volunteers and/or musicians assisting during the Gathering. They are there in a service role to help the event run smoothly and will not be attending as guests.
Q: Will the event be recorded for me to watch later?
A: Gatherings are designed to be a live, collective experience for bereaved mothers. We suggest planning ahead so that you can engage with the sisterhood of women on this healing journey. The event will not be recorded.
Q: Do I have to live in the United States to attend a Gathering?
A: You may join us for our in-person conference in Fort Worth, TX or you can attend a Host Site or Sisterhood Circle closer to your location.
Q: Will there be early-bird or discount codes for the Gathering?
A: No. We use simplified pricing, which means the price you see is the best price available. This approach helps us keep costs fair for everyone, plan ahead, and reserve scholarships for moms who couldn’t otherwise attend. If you need financial assistance, we offer a limited number of scholarships made possible through sponsorships.
Q: I purchased a ticket and can no longer attend. Is my ticket transferrable? Can I get a refund?
A: We understand that life can bring unexpected changes, and we’re so sorry you’re unable to join us! Planning the Gathering begins long before the conference, and each ticket represents expenses we’ve already committed to, such as venue, materials, and meals. We’re not able to transfer or refund tickets.
Q: Can I connect with other moms before a Gathering?
A: Absolutely. Our private Facebook group is a great way to connect with other mothers before the Gathering. You can also join our email list and stay up to date on other options to meet moms, like our book club or socials.
Q: Can I volunteer to serve at a Gathering?
A: Yes! It takes many volunteers to make this event a success. Check the link in our Instagram bio to see if applications are open. CLICK HERE
Q: Do I have to have personal experience with baby loss in order to be a volunteer?
A: The only position where personal baby loss experience is required is for our Table Leaders. Applications for in-person positions can be found in the volunteer forms above.
Q: Are there sponsorship opportunities for Gatherings?
A: Yes, sponsorships strengthen our programming and are essential to making Gatherings a reality. Interested in sponsoring? Send an email to info@gatheringhope.net for more information or click HERE.
