Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month

At Gathering Hope, we're honored to participate in that global movement in ways that reflect our mission of helping loss moms overcome loneliness and isolation so they can find healing in community. Our hope is that every conversation, every act of remembrance, and every opportunity to connect helps bereaved parents feel seen, supported, and reminded they are not alone.

Awareness is only the beginning

Throughout October, you'll find meaningful opportunities to advocate, educate, honor, and empower. Whether you're remembering your own baby, supporting someone you love, caring for families through your work, or discovering Gathering Hope for the first time, we're grateful you're here and invite you to participate alongside families from around the world.

• HONOR babies who are deeply loved and forever remembered, while acknowledging the families who carry them in their hearts.

• ADVOCATE by increasing awareness and helping others better understand the realities of miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.

• EDUCATE through stories, conversations, and resources that foster compassion, understanding, and hope.

• EMPOWER bereaved parents by helping them discover they are not alone and inviting them into a community where healing begins through connection.

How do you envision participating this October? Whether you're remembering your own child, standing alongside someone you love, or simply taking time to acknowledge these loved babies, we invite you to get involved in whichever way feels right for you.

Submit a Baby's Name

Each year, families and friends from around the world entrust Gathering Hope with the names of their babies. Every submission is received with love and honored with care. Baby names submitted through our remembrance form may be honored in one or both of the following ways, depending on when they are received:

• Read aloud during Gathering Hope's Virtual Wave of Light Ceremony.

• Included in our October 15 Remembrance Tribute Post shared on Facebook and Instagram. Click here to view our 2025 Post.

Every October 15, families, friends, care providers and loved ones around the world participate in the Wave of Light, a global movement of remembrance observed on International Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

Join us as we remember babies together during Gathering Hope's annual Virtual Wave of Light Ceremony, live on our YouTube Channel. We welcome you to engage with the thoughtful prompts along the way, interacting with other viewers in the live chat during the ceremony. Or, you can simply watch and listen as each name is spoken aloud. Showing up together is what matters.

Joining a worldwide movement of remembrance, from right here in Parker County

Throughout October, purple lights illuminate the Gathering Hope office as a beautiful tribute honoring babies who are deeply loved and forever remembered. Each light reminds us that every life matters and every grieving family belongs in our community. If you're in the Parker County area, we invite you to stop by, pause for a moment, and remember alongside us.

WHY 24 LIGHTS?
The 24 purple lights represent the reality that every hour of every day, families in our community and around the world experience the loss of a baby. They also remind us that while October invites us to pause and remember together, Gathering Hope's commitment to grieving families extends far beyond a single day or month.

The installation is open throughout October. While you're welcome to visit anytime, the purple lights create an especially beautiful display after dusk each evening.

ADVOCATE

Advocacy and awareness about this issue is vital because miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss are more common, and more isolating, than many realize. For survivors of baby loss it’s so much more than being sad, especially since baby loss is still stigmatized. Even in 2026, disenfranchised grief is the lived experience of many bereaved parents.

A few statistics…

• In the United States alone, 21,000 stillbirths occur annually.

• 1 in 4 pregnancies end miscarriage and 44 miscarriages occur globally, every minute.

• Up to 60% of loss moms meet the criteria for a PTSD diagnosis. Other mental and physical health challenges often compound her grief experience.

Greater awareness begins with greater understanding. Gathering Hope is committed to helping families, friends, healthcare professionals, churches, and communities better understand the realities of miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss. Through honest conversations, practical resources, and real stories, we hope to foster greater compassion, meaningful support, and lasting change for grieving families.
