What it means to serve With Gathering Hope
Serving at Gathering Hope is about more than filling a volunteer position. Every role, whether visible or behind the scenes, helps create the kind of space where women can experience the hope of Christ in the midst of their grief.
Some volunteers welcome guests through the doors of our annual Gathering. Some pray for every attendee by name. Some create beautiful spaces, prepare meaningful details, and others sit beside loss moms, offering a safe place for honest conversation.
And along the way, something else often happens…volunteers find community, too! While our volunteers come to care for our guests, we believe they should experience that same intentional care too. We want every volunteer to feel welcomed, equipped, supported, valued, and known as part of the Gathering Hope community.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER WITH GATHERING HOPE?
Maybe you’re a loss mom who wants to serve in memory of your baby. Maybe you’ve walked alongside someone you love through baby loss. Or maybe you simply have a heart for creating a place where grieving women can experience the hope of Christ in the midst of their grief.
You don't have to have personally experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss to serve with Gathering Hope. Our volunteers come to us with different stories and experiences, united by a desire to serve loss moms with compassion and care.
FIND YOUR PLACE
GATHERING COMMITTEES:
Greeters - Help every woman feel welcomed from the moment she arrives.
Prayer Team - Cover our guests, volunteers, speakers, and Gathering in prayer.
Table Leaders - Help create safe spaces where loss moms can share their stories and know they aren't alone.
Decor & Conference Setup - Help transform an ordinary space into one intentionally prepared for our guests.
SWAG Bags - Prepare meaningful gifts that remind every attendee she is seen and cared for.
Cleanup - Faithfully serve behind the scenes as we care for our venue and close the Gathering well.
Not sure where you fit? That's okay! Tell us about your interests, gifts, and current season of life in the application. Part of our role is helping volunteers find a place where they can serve well.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
We want you to feel just as cared for as the women we're coming together to serve. From the time you join your committee, our hope is that you feel welcomed into the community, prepared for your role, and supported by your Committee Chair and Gathering leadership along the way. Whether you're serving in front of a room or behind the scenes, what you bring matters! We want to get to know your gifts, your experience, and your current season of life so you can serve in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.
WHAT WE'LL ASK OF YOU
Serving with Gathering Hope is a commitment, and we want you to know what to expect before you apply. We ask our volunteers to communicate with their Committee Chair throughout the planning process, attend required training, follow through on the responsibilities of their committee, and be available for the dates associated with their role. Most importantly, we ask you to serve with compassion, flexibility, and a willingness to work alongside others toward our shared mission.
Each committee has different responsibilities and time commitments, so you'll find more specific details when you explore the volunteer application.
BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU
Gathering Hope grows when people invite others into the community. If someone comes to mind who has a heart for loss moms or whose gifts would be a great fit, send her this page and invite her to find her place too. We love welcoming new volunteers and watching them serve alongside those who already know and love the Gathering.
READY TO FIND YOUR PLACE?
We’d love to get to know you! Your application will tell us a little about your interests, experience, availability, and current season of life so we can thoughtfully and intentionally build our volunteer teams for Gathering 2027.
Have a question before you apply? We’d be happy to help. Send us an email at info@gatheringhope.net.
Other Ways to Volunteer
Not every opportunity to serve with Gathering Hope happens at the Gathering!
Throughout the year, we occasionally need extra hands for special projects, events, assembling resources, preparing mailings, or other needs that come up along the way. Some opportunities may take just a few hours, while others may happen over several days or weeks.
If you'd like to be someone we can reach out to when a need arises, we'd love to know a little about you. There's no commitment to say yes every time, we'll simply let you know when an opportunity comes up, and you can decide if it fits your interests, availability, and current season of life.
